At a recent press conference, the Vice Chairman of the Club and Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Mr. Rufai Ladipo, unveiled the exciting plans for the weeklong celebration, themed “Ikoyi Club: Repositioning for the Modern Age.” The festivities will kick off this Wednesday with a symposium featuring the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Obafemi Hamza, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Ladipo highlighted that the Deputy Governor’s insights into leadership and governance will align perfectly with the club’s theme, offering invaluable perspectives as the club charts its future course. “As we roll out the drums to celebrate 86 years of achievement, we reflect on our journey with immense pride and anticipation for the future,” Mr. Ladipo remarked. “Over the decades, our club has not only remained a beacon of excellence but has also adapted and thrived in the ever-evolving landscape of social and recreational life in Nigeria.” Looking ahead, Mr. Ladipo emphasized that the club is guided by a strategic roadmap leading up to its centennial celebration. This roadmap is designed to ensure that Ikoyi Club 1938 maintains its position as the country’s premier social and recreational club while adapting to the evolving needs of its members and society at large. “Our commitment to excellence remains unwavering,” he stressed. “We are confident that the steps we take today will prepare the club for the next level of growth, admiration, and overall satisfaction of our growing membership.” Club Chairman, Tafa Zibiri-Aliu, expressed pride in the club’s legacy, noting that it continues to attract new members, with over 3,000 people eager to join. He described Ikoyi Club 1938 as the only sociocultural club in Africa with eight sections, promising that they will not compromise on standards and will continue to upgrade their world-class facilities.   The anniversary celebration will feature a variety of events designed to engage, educate, and entertain members and guests. Highlights include a staff engagement and award ceremony on Thursday, an elders’ party and ladies’ night on Friday, a children’s party on Saturday morning, and a grand Gala Night on Sunday, which will be an exclusive, invitation-only event.
