On September 29, 1938, Ikoyi Club 1938 officially came into being through the merger of the European Club and Lagos Golf Club.

The Chairman of Ikoyi Club 1938, Mr. Tafa  Zibiri-Aliu, along with the Vice Chairman, Mr. Rufai Ladipo, paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, today. Accompanying them were the Entertainment Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Shadoro, the GM/CEO of Ikoyi Club 1938, Dr. Babatunde Orungbeja, and Prince Aromolaran.
